- October 28, 2008 - Investors' Circle, a national membership of early-stage investors committed to building a sustainable economy, will hold its Fall 2008 Conference and Venture Fair on November 10-12 at the Boston Harbor Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts.

In the wake of the current financial crisis, this post-election conference will offer a platform for timely and essential discussion of how social investing can shape our financial future.

Since 1992, Investors' Circle has been committed to funding socially- and environmentally-responsible organizations that promote a self-sustaining economy. Investors' Circle members have invested over $130 million into over 200 companies and small venture funds. Through education and thought leadership, Investors’ Circle also strives to inspire other investors and new and existing entrepreneurs to follow its lead.

The November conference will include an introduction to Slow Money, a newly organized 501c3, incubated by Investors' Circle and led by Woody Tasch, the organization's chairman. Slow Money designs strategies for investing in local food systems and promotes new definitions of fiduciary responsibility around principles of carrying capacity, cultural and biological diversity, non-violence and care of the commons. Slow Money is closely aligned with Carlo Petrini's concept of Slow Food-an international movement opposing fast food and promoting and protecting the heritage, traditions and culture of food.

"We have to find a new form of economy, an economy that knows how to govern its limits, an economy that respects nature and acts at the service of man, a situation where political and humanistic choices govern economy and not the other way around. This new path has a very ambitious goal, based on the idea that local economies are the only truly sustainable kind of economy. But local economy doesn't mean localism. Local economy is about being connected through a network of many local economies that have deep roots in their own religion, and the ability to exchange knowledge," said Petrini.

Mr. Tasch will be joined by Tom Stearns, president of High Mowing Seeds, in a full afternoon showcasing Slow Money strategies for the changing economy and excerpts from Mr. Tasch's recently published book, Inquiries into the Nature of Slow Money.

Investors' Circle invites those interested in investing in a sustainable economic future to join the conversation at its Fall 2008 Conference. To register or learn more visit investorscircle.net.
