OTTAWA, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- You won't hear about the millions of dollars these organizations give and you probably haven't heard of the organizations either, but they will nonetheless donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Myanmar disaster. These organizations make up the extremely large, but unrepresented group of small companies throughout North America who donate hundreds of dollars to charities that provide aid to the hard hit Myanmar region. TalktoCanada.com, a new global English company with a part time staff of just five, is making a donation to assist those affected by the Cyclone in Myanmar by giving $100.00 to World Vision. TalktoCanada.com hopes that its donation will encourage other small companies with limited resources to give. "If every small company in the developed world gives just a few dollars, it can make a huge difference in the lives of people thousands of miles away," says Marc Anderson, founder of TalktoCanada.com.

Anderson decided to donate to World Vision for several reasons. World Vision has worked in Myanmar for over 40 years and had 500 staff in Myanmar when the cyclone hit. World Vision has helped 78,000 people in the Yangon area by providing rice and water. If other small organizations gave just $100 dollars each, World Vision would only need 9,999 more contributions of $100 in order to reach their goal of $1,000,000 raised from Canada.

"We are very happy to make a donation to help those in need. Sometimes we forget just how lucky we are to live in a place of such abundance," says Anderson. "We know that this donation will go far in helping those less fortunate than us who will benefit from the clothing, blankets, food and emergency shelter material distributed by World Vision."

Small businesses may not get the recognition of large organizations that have millions of dollars to donate, but they can definitely show that together in large numbers they too are capable of making a difference in the lives affected by the Myanmar disaster. With just a few dollars you can donate to World Vision or other reputable organizations such as the Red Cross, the United Nations Children's Fund, the World Food Program and CARE to name a few.
