She currently serves on four public company boards: Polycom, Inc., Chico's FAS, Reynolds American Inc., and SunPower Corporation. Ms. Atkins is also a board member of NASDAQ Exchange, LLC.

She is widely published in the corporate governance world, including the Conference Board, National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), and Corporate Board Member. Ms. Atkins is also recognized as an "expert witness" on corporate governance best practices, having testified before Congress on governance reform.
