June 25, 2008- This month, we focus on what can be done do to curb greenhouse gas emissions, cut back on energy consumption, and increase the energy efficiency of our homes and businesses.

In our top story, we look at solutions that could help reduce fossil fuel consumption, including algae bioreactors to more efficient aviation and streets that produce energy. Some scientists, however, are dreaming up even more radical solutions. This month's Editor's Choice article analyzes whether "far out" ideas like space mirrors and cloud seeding are viable options to stop global warming or just science fiction.

The International Energy Agency just released a new study on the technology needed to halve CO2 emissions by 2050. Co-author Dolf Gielen tells us how it can work and what it will cost.
