NEW YORK, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Foot Locker Foundation, Inc. joined together members of the athletic industry on Tuesday, October 21, at New York City’s renowned Rainbow Room to celebrate the eighth annual "On Our Feet" fundraising Gala. For the past five years, the event has benefitted the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) through a scholarship program to provide deserving students the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.

Executives, professional athletes and celebrities donning traditional black-tie attire while sporting their favorite pair of athletic shoes joined footwear companies like Nike, adidas, Converse, Reebok, and Timberland to lend their support to this important cause. Baseball legend, Bernie Williams of the New York Yankees, Jennie Finch of the 2004 Olympic Gold Medal Softball Team, UFC Champion Chuck "The Iceman" Lidell, Vince Carter of the New Jersey Nets and Boxing Middleweight Champion Jake "The Bronx Bull" LaMotta, to name a few, attended the evening’s festivities.
Through the years, this event has raised the necessary funds to continue the scholarship program in support of UNCF and provide more than 250 students with the opportunity to obtain higher education.

UNCF is the nation’s largest minority higher education assistance organization providing funds and technology enhancement services for its members. The organization also offers scholarships and internships for students at almost 1,000 institutions, as well as faculty and administrative professional training.
Foot Locker Foundation, Inc. works closely with organizations to address issues that concern the communities in which it serves. In addition to the "On Our Feet" program, the Foundation provides support for educational and sports programs across the country that empowers young people to achieve their goals and be successful in life.
