MONTREAL, CANADA. - 14 April 2009 - Natural Advantage is proud to announce the release of the new book Corporate Social Responsibility - A Legal Analysis (LexisNexis, 2009) authored by Michael Kerr, Richard Janda and Chip Pitts (co-author and editor). The book examines the hard and soft laws that ground CSR to show that responsible corporate behaviour has become a matter of important legal concern for virtually every corporation. This legal analysis is particularly relevant at this time of continuing economic crisis when world leaders, including those at the G-20, are seeking regulatory solutions to promote greater corporate responsibility within a more sustainable, global economic system.

The book answers four essential questions:

  • What is CSR?
  • What is driving it?
  • What are the legal dimensions of CSR?
  • What are its likely future legal developments?
The authors address these questions citing examples from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, as well as European Union law and developments in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Their analysis focuses on how national laws, international treaties, and voluntary initiatives work together to reflect the seven CSR principles they have identified "“ principles of critical importance to corporations around the globe.
