SARASOTA, FL - May 4, 2009 -- Boar's Head Provisions Co., Inc., the manufacturer of premium deli meats and cheeses, has teamed up with two major health organizations, the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association, in an effort to encourage Americans to follow healthful and nutritional diets. These affiliations are part of Boar's Head's ongoing pledge to provide families with healthy, nutritious eating choices.

Boar's Head, manufacturer of premium delicatessen products for over 100 years, has joined the American Diabetes Association as a national promotional sponsor of the Diabetes Association's School Walk for Diabetes program. Boar's Head, along with the assistance of hundreds of independent Boar's Head Distributors, will encourage schools across the country to participate in the American Diabetes Association's School Walk fundraising program to promote healthy living, school spirit and community involvement. Throughout 2009, Boar's Head and the American Diabetes Association will work together to champion the cause of diabetes prevention by promoting healthy lifestyle options through good eating habits and physical fitness.

In addition, Boar's' Head is working with the American Heart Association (AHA) by participating in its Food Certification Program. The AHA's distinctive red and white heart-check mark can be displayed on food items that have been screened and certified by the AHA to be low in harmful fats, cholesterol and sodium. Twenty-eight Boar's Head products proudly feature the heart-check mark.
