Sysco Serves the United Nations With Sustainable Dishes

At these events Entergy representatives will be standing by to provide bill payment assistance and energy efficiency resources to help residential customers across the state.

Events were held recently in other areas of the state. Four upcoming are scheduled to serve residents in Central and Southeast Arkansas:

It will also include opportunities to meet with local and state organizations to connect qualifying customers with other financial assistance. Among the groups scheduled to be at Watershed are:

<ul><li>Arkansas Department of Human Services can help with Medicaid and other social services.</li>
	<li>Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance will be available to help with WIC (Women, Infants and Children) and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Program) benefits.</li>
	<li>Central Arkansas Development Council will be helping attendees through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP which provides financial assistance for energy bills and other energy-related expenses.</li>
	<li>Legal Aid of Arkansas will be providing free legal services.</li>
</ul>Those attendees in need of financial assistance must have their social security card for verification purposes.

Talk to a therapist or a licensed professional. Thoughts and feelings can be complicated following an accident or a diagnosis. Sharing them with a licensed professional can help untangle them and even smooth them out. Finding a new path after a life-changing medical event might be difficult at first, but a therapist could help pave the way.

Make sure to get plenty of quality sleep. Eight hours of shut-eye can have a positive impact on the body as well as the mind. Try establishing a routine, like going to bed at the same time each night and getting up at the same time in the morning. Get ready for sleep by turning down the lights, making the room cool and comfortable, and minimizing noise. Then prepare to count some sheep.

Connect with people, like family and friends, or others in the community. Reaching out to others isn’t always easy, but it can be beneficial to improving mental health. Send a text to a loved one — start a conversation or set up a time to grab lunch together. Or, if health permits, look into events that are happening nearby, like a festival or movie night.

Start a hobby or another relaxing activity. Taking personal time during a busy, stressful period in life can help maintain good mental health. Use that time to nurture a hobby or enjoy a calming activity, like crochet or yoga. Learning an entirely new hobby can also be a way to center the mind and focus on something fun.

This year, more than 1,000 employees around the world showed their generous spirit completing 117 volunteer projects. From distributing school bags to children or preparing and serving meals to supporting organizations like Habitat for Humanity, volunteers made a visible impact while reaffirming their commitment to service.

June was exciting, and there are many great stories to share. This article covers global initiatives only. 

Missing Maps Project

Franklin Templeton employees participated in the ninth annual Missing Maps project, a virtual global volunteer opportunity to map areas missing from maps, which helps disaster relief efforts. Franklin Templeton donated to Save the Children for each participant who logged at least 60 minutes of mapping in June.

Global CAN Competition

The annual food drive and CANstruction competition brought creativity and generosity together, with employees from nine locations collecting over 4,000 cans and other dry food items. Teams built sculptures from the donations, with Short Hills, NJ office winning the photo contest for their “Ben’s Diner” sculpture and Mexico City winning the video contest with their rendition of the Angel of Independence. Each winning team received a donation to a local charitable organization of choice.

The firm’s annual fitness charity challenge saw 305 employees from 79 teams log over 44 million steps to raise funds for a meaningful cause. Together we walked an incredible 44,487,794 steps—totaling approximately 21,064 miles (33,899 km). That is roughly the distance from New York City to Tokyo and back—twice! To honor the dedication of employees, Franklin Templeton donated to Save the Children in recognition of this achievement.

Freerice Challenge

Additionally, employees participated in the Freerice online trivia challenge, donating over 2.29 million grains of rice through the World Food Program.

Global Involved Day

Impact Days concluded on June 24 with Global Involved Day, where employees proudly wore their volunteer T-shirts to celebrate a month of meaningful service. From Poznan to Kuala Lumpur, the spirit of giving and community was evident across the globe.

The 3M Open, in partnership with <a href="https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/people-community/our-communities/" target="_blank">3M Community Impact and 3Mgives</a>, successfully hosted its fourth-annual Golf 4 All Day on Tuesday, July 22, at TPC Twin Cities.

The event welcomed over 500 students from across the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area, offering a unique introduction to golf while also highlighting the exciting world of science and skilled trades.

Collaborating with <a href="https://ticketsforkids.org/" target="_blank">Tickets for Kids</a> and local organizations such as <a href="https://www.shsga.org/" target="_blank">Solomon Hughes Sr. Golf Academy</a>, <a href="https://firsttee.org/" target="_blank">First Tee Minnesota</a>, and the <a href="https://thesannehfoundation.org/" target="_blank">Sanneh Foundation</a>, Golf 4 All Day created an atmosphere that celebrated the joy of golf for all ages.

The afternoon was packed with experiences designed to educate and entertain. Kids gained hands-on experience with golf through "club-in-hand" activations expertly led by First Tee – Minnesota. Additionally, the 3M Swing Lab presented by TaylorMade, the 3M Open Primrose Playground, and interactive demonstrations with the 3M Visiting Wizards, a STEM education program led by volunteer 3Mers, brought scientific principles to life in captivating and accessible ways.

The event also saw an impressive lineup of celebrities and personalities join the students, including Minnesota Timberwolves star Mike Conley, former NBA player Cole Aldrich, Minnesota Vikings legends Randall McDaniel and John Randle, former Vikings wide receiver Michael Floyd and former Minnesota Timberwolves player Wally Szczerbiak. Their presence added an extra layer of excitement and inspiration for the young attendees.

A significant focus of this year's Golf 4 All Day was its expanded emphasis on STEM and career pathways in the skilled trades, notably with the introduction of the <a href="https://news.3m.com/3Ms-Safety-Roadshow-brings-hands-on-learning-to-students-in-Alabama,-Arkansas-and-Missouri" target="_blank">3M Safety Roadshow</a>. This new initiative operates as a mobile training center, directly addressing the growing manufacturing skills gap in the U.S. and the anticipated retirement of a significant portion of the current skilled trade workforce.

The Roadshow showcases 3M's industrial safety expertise and personal protective equipment, or PPE, providing students with valuable hands-on advanced manufacturing activities and safety demonstrations.

“So far, we’ve inspired over 1,300 students on six stops across Alabama, Arkansas and Missouri,” said Torie Clarke, Chief Public Affairs Officer at 3M. “Today, we hope that the Safety Roadshow and other activities will inspire you, our future workforce, to consider a career in STEM or the skilled trades.”

The event reinforced the positive impact of community collaboration and highlighted the endless possibilities within golf, science and skilled trades.
