Information is power and using metrics to analyze solutions and make important changes in business can also help create transparency. In this week's video interview, the Sustainable Roundtable's Bonnie Nixon talks about how companies can develop and leverage data to enable smarter decisions.
Metrics targeted toward life cycles can help companies identify solutions for specific categories such as water, carbon emissions, sourcing and other areas related to sustainable business practices. A great fan of co-opetition, she notes most organizations using data well are doing so in collaboration with other enterprises, recognizing the value of working together to achieve greater impact.
A veteran of the sustainability sector, Nixon brings with her a deep wealth of knowledge and was one of the first CSR leaders to execute a sustainability strategy at Hewlett-Packard as director of environmental sustainability. Responsible for first building a business case and then constructively engaging thousands of global suppliers on environmental, health, safety, ethical and labor practices for almost a decade, she translated this knowledge to helping The Sustainability Consortium as their executive director until 2012, Bonnie is now a strategic advisor to Sustainability Roundtable Inc. where she leads the Enterprise Wide Leadership Council.
