Amgen has launched its 2015 Environmental Sustainability Report highlighting the Company’s environmental sustainability progress. The 2015 Environmental Sustainability Report documents performance of a key aspect of Amgen’s broad commitments to environmental and social responsibility, as detailed in the Responsibility section of Amgen’s website and featured in this video.
 
Amgen has a commitment to making a positive impact in the world that goes beyond its medicines to include all aspects of the company’s operations and actions. As evidence of the Company’s broader positive impact, Corporate Responsibility Magazine listed Amgen as one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens. In addition, in 2015, Amgen earned placement in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for a second year and was named to the North America Index for a third year.

Included in Amgen’s 2015 Environmental Sustainability Report:

  • Progress towards Amgen’s 2020 Environmental Sustainability Plan and Targets. These efforts reduce impact on the environment, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
     
  • The role of renewable and alternative energy technology in the Company’s comprehensive energy strategy and long range plan. Amgen is evaluating the use of solar, wind power, fuel cells, micro gas turbines, and waste-to-energy at various sites.
     
  • Details of Amgen’s accelerated efforts to conserve water in response to severe drought conditions in California and Puerto Rico. Amgen has achieved more than fifty percent of its water target a year ahead of schedule.
     
  • A focus on expanded programs for recycling and composting, including a new initiative to recycle manufacturing plastics from operations in Rhode Island and a significant increase in composting at the Thousand Oaks, California campus.
     
  • Environmental sustainability performance data, independently verified by Bureau Veritas North America.
