Telstra has released its Bigger Picture 2021 Sustainability Report, detailing the company’s progress in implementing its new Responsible Business Strategy and responding to the issues that matter most to its stakeholders.

The Bigger Picture 2021 Sustainability Report provides an overview of Telstra’s work throughout the 2021 Financial Year to continue to build on its reputation as a trusted, sustainable business, and draw on its tech expertise to play a leadership role in promoting digital inclusion and environmental action. Highlights for Telstra in FY21 include:

  • Being awarded first place in the inaugural World Benchmarking Alliance Digital Inclusion Index
  • Providing $28 million in COVID-19 relief packages for customers and supporting staff globally throughout the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Helping one million customers in vulnerable circumstances to stay connected through delivery of specialised products, programs and services
  • Maintaining carbon neutral certification across its operations
  • Reducing GHG emissions by 11 per cent from FY19 baseline, on track towards a 50 per cent emissions reduction by 2030
  • Announcing a third power purchase agreement to build Crookwell Stage III windfarm in New South Wales, Australia
  • Introducing three new resource efficiency targets, aimed at optimising resource use, reducing consumption and waste, and investing in circular solutions
  • Doubling the number of scam calls blocked each month to around 13 million, protecting customers and their data
  • Announcing a $200 million co-investment fund to improve regional connectivity over the next four years
  • Providing $127.3 million of value through the company’s social and community programs.

Telstra’s Bigger Picture 2021 Sustainability Report was developed in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Reporting Standards: Core Option. Limited assurance over specified data and related performance disclosures throughout Telstra’s reporting has been provided by Ernst & Young, in accordance with the ISAE 3000 assurance standards. The report also details Telstra’s progress in implementing the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the company's work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
