The Way We Do Business: HBOS CR Report 2006

In its 2006 Corporate Responsibility Report www.hbosplc.com/community/includes/HBOS_CR_Report_2006.pdf, HBOS sets out how key issues such as responsible lending, financial inclusion and climate change help differentiate it from its competitors and achieve sustained success.
The launch of innovative products such as its High Interest Current Account saw HBOS receive over 3,000 mentions in the best buy tables in 2006. HBOS was one of the first banks to announce plans to install 100 new free ATMs in deprived areas, of which over 70 are already up and running.
HBOS was also the first major bank to purchase 100% renewable electricity in the UK and has driven down UK carbon emissions by almost two thirds since 2004.
HBOS highlights:
More retail best buys than any major bank –over 3,000 appearances in best buy tables.
UK’s leading savings provider helping 15 million customers save for the future.
£10bn in mortgage lending in deprived areas of the UK.
Only financial institution to have piloted the Saving Gateway with HM Treasury.
Invested £44.2m in local communities.
Reduced UK carbon emissions by 65%, or nearly two thirds over two years.
One of the UK's largest payers of corporation tax
The first bank to produce a standalone, data-led financial inclusion report
HBOS will be reviewing its approach throughout 2007 to ensure it remains relevant to stakeholders and welcomes feedback via the CorporateRegister.com listing, here.
