Recently, teachers from Chicago Public Schools (CPS) had the opportunity to select Logitech products for their classrooms to provide thousands of students with the latest computer accessories, keyboards and mice to speakers and headphones, equipping them with the resources they need for in-class and remote learning.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Logitech to give back in a meaningful and sustainable way, with hundreds of students benefiting by using high performance learning products in the classroom,”said Prakash Arunkundrum, global head of operations and sustainability at Logitech.

The Chicago event on October 12th kicks off the partnership between Logitech and World Vision, a non-profit helping children, families, and communities around the world. Logitech has initially donated more than $1 million worth of products, with more than half coming from gaming brands Logitech G and ASTRO Gaming, a division of Logitech. Logitech personal workspace and streaming products were also included.

“We are thrilled to partner with Logitech on this innovative program that will get much-needed tech in the hands of teachers and students,” said Jennifer Hawley, World Vision’s corporate engagement senior director.

Logitech is the first technology company to donate what the industry considers “open box” products to World Vision. These products often with damaged boxes or potentially returned items, are fully functional, but might otherwise be recycled before the end of their working lifecycle. This program extends the lifecycle in a sustainable way that benefits the environment and communities – in this case schools in underserved areas.

“We are able to extend the lifecycle of our open box products in a way that’s friendly for the environment,” continues Arunkundrum. “We urge any technology companies that are able to do this to join us, as we view it as a worthwhile investment in reducing their own carbon footprint, as well as providing quality educational opportunities for those in need.”
