NortonLifeLock forms an environmental ERG and creates employee incentives to inspire action

Earth Day is today, April 22nd, and we are celebrating the many ways we support the Earth by taking action all year long. Earth Day has been observed in the United States every April since 1970 and in 1990, the day went global. With renewed urgency to take real action towards environmental sustainability in the past few years, many groups, like NortonLifeLock, have expanded Earth Day to Earth Month.
At NortonLifeLock, a key part of our environmental stewardship strategy is engaging our employees both at work and at home to choose sustainability. As an example, we recently launched a new NortonLifeLock Community, what we call employee resource groups, for employees dedicated to creating a more sustainable NortonLifeLock and world. We call this environmentally focused Community N-EARTH and Julia Kaldenhoff is our N-EARTH Champion. Julia is based in Germany and joined NortonLifeLock in 2021, coming from Avira. A Greenpeace activist, Climate Reality Leader, and sustainability podcaster, Julia is passionate about protecting the earth and loves to share green life-hacks to inspire others.
N-EARTH is committed to protecting the planet by taking small actions every day, as we believe that, together, our individual acts can help save forests, conserve water, reduce air pollution, and tackle climate change. N-EARTH recently launched an annual campaign designed to inspire, educate, and encourage employees to learn easy ways to choose sustainability every day. We look forward to sharing our progress with you in the coming months.
I’m also excited to tell you about our new innovative and industry-leading initiative, the Sustainable Home Improvement Program. NortonLifeLock is committed to minimizing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our entire value chain. While this includes the office buildings where some employees work, many of our employees now and into the future will work from home to some degree. In response, our new incentive program provides our employees with up to $500 per year to make sustainability improvements in their own homes.
Assisting employees in making their residences more sustainable not only helps employees and the planet but will also have a positive impact on NortonLifeLock’s Scope 3 emissions (GHG Emissions from upstream and downstream activities of the company). Eligible improvements span several categories, from electricity (and electric vehicle charging), to heating and cooling, water conservation, and others like composting and gardening.
