Today, Logitech is honored to share our participation in a new, global, non-profit alliance called Design for Good.
Design for Good is an alliance of industry-leading companies and institutions across private sector, academia and social sectors, who share the mission to harness design as a way of enacting measurable positive change in support of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
The design leaders, and their teams, from Logitech, General Mills, McKinsey & Company, Microsoft (led by Xbox), Nedbank, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Philips, and the Royal College of Art are founding members of the alliance.
Together, over the coming nine months, they will apply the power of this 5,000-strong design community to design and develop open-source products and services to address some of society’s biggest challenges. Each year, they will focus on one UN SDG. And in this, its inaugural year, Design for Good will seek to address Goal 6, focused on ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. Billions of people worldwide live without safely managed drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services, which are critical for protecting human health.
Logitech has long maintained that, in the face of growing environmental and societal challenges – from climate change to global inequality and injustice – there is a need to collaborate with others and unleash the full force of our collective experience and capacity for innovation and social change. With that in mind, we aligned our sustainability programs with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is in the same spirit that we are participating as a founding member of Design for Good.
As a design company, it makes sense for us to harness the talents of our world-class design community, connecting them with their peers in other leading organizations to achieve a scale and impact only possible through global collaboration.
Over time, we hope to create innovative new solutions that transform the lives of millions of people and communities around the world. And, in doing so, to transform the way large companies and institutions collaborate on a common goal.
