NEWARK, N.J., March 31, 2022 /CSRwire/ - Sustainable Jersey is joining forces with PSE&G to help communities become more energy efficient and reduce their energy consumption, lower their energy bills and shrink their carbon footprint.
“Supporting municipalities and schools with technical expertise to do sustainable energy projects is an important step toward our goal of a more sustainable New Jersey,” said Sustainable Jersey Executive Director Randall Solomon. “Now more than ever, we need our municipal and school district leaders to emphasize–and more importantly to showcase–how solving climate change also builds a healthier, stronger economy and a more resilient future for all.”
Making schools, government and commercial facilities and homes more energy efficient would be an important step toward achieving New Jersey’s targets for reducing the emissions that contribute to climate change.
“We are thrilled to partner with Sustainable Jersey in this endeavor,” said Susanna Chiu, senior director, Energy Solutions for PSE&G. “Energy efficiency is the one strategy for combating climate change that lowers customers’ bills. By helping customers use less electricity and gas, it reduces the need for power plants to run in the first place.”
Sustainable Jersey and PSE&G will be seeking input from municipalities and schools to find ways to engage more schools, businesses, municipalities, and residents in energy efficiency programs.
PSE&G’s $1 billion energy efficiency effort is part of PSEG’s vision to power a future where people use less energy, and it’s cleaner, safer and delivered more reliably than ever. The utility offers all customers – residential, commercial and industrial – options to reduce their energy consumption.
These offerings include programs such as:
Quick Home Energy Check-up gives PSE&G residential electric and/or gas customers access to free expert advice and energy-saving products such as LED light bulbs, faucet aerators, and smart power strips installed at no cost. A certified energy efficiency professional will perform an in-person or remote (via smartphone video chat) home walk-through to analyze insulation levels, air leakage, heating and cooling systems, lighting fixtures, water heating equipment, and more. Home Performance with Energy Star is a whole-home approach to improving energy efficiency, lowering energy bills, and improving the health, comfort, and safety of the homes of residential customers.
Created specifically for existing small to medium-sized businesses, the PSE&G Direct Install program provides a turnkey solution that makes it easy and affordable to upgrade to energy efficient equipment for measures such as lighting, heating, cooling & ventilation (HVAC), refrigeration, and water heating.
