AEG’s LA Galaxy recently teamed up with TreePeople to plant trees in Watts, Los Angeles in celebration of Earth Month on Thursday, April 29.
Together, LA Galaxy staff and supporters spent the afternoon planting trees alongside LA Galaxy and MLS legend Cobi Jones and team mascot Cozmo. Volunteers planted trees in residential neighborhoods with the design of providing shade for residents and neighbors.
The event coincided with the LA Galaxy’s environmental sustainability program, Protect the Pitch, which focusses on reducing the environmental impact of LA Galaxy games and practices, as well as supporting environmental projects in the surrounding community and inspiring fans to help create healthier, more sustainable communities.
An on-going partner of the LA Galaxy, TreePeople is an environmental nonprofit organization geared toward inspiring the Los Angeles community to take personal responsibility for the urban forest by growing a greener, shadier and more water-secure city.
