Sands Academy, our global development and mentorship program, supports our Team Members through a variety of learning opportunities to ensure all are able to reach their full potential and attain their career goals. As a global program, acting under a unified global charter, Sands Academy supports all Team Members in every one of our communities. To best serve our local populations, we tailor our programs to each of our individual business regions.
Sands Academy’s development mission begins in earnest on day one. In the US, for examples, all newly hired Team Members participate in full-day, intensive orientation, led by an expert from the talent & organizational development team. Along with providing detailed explanations of company policies, our comprehensive Responsible Gaming program and industry-leading benefits package, orientation also includes an in-depth review of our guest service standards and helps build knowledge of the property through a full property tour. Additionally, the orientation experience features an official executive welcome from members of our property leadership team.
Comprehensive Team Member support does not end at orientation, though. As part of its robust course offerings, Sands Academy developed the Enrich program, available to all Team Members, at all levels of the company. Diverse course offerings include resume writing workshops and seminars on facilitating effective meetings, along with a host of other workshops designed to encourage career development.
Building off the foundational principles of Enrich, that comprehensive skills and mentorship opportunities should be available to all Team Members, is the Emerge program, a leadership development series for high-potential Team Members. Emerge participants learn how to give effective business presentations, demonstrate our company’s core values through volunteering with Sands Cares events and learn the fundamentals of effective leadership.
Other course offerings, available at no cost to our entire Team Member population, include specific subject deep dives, facilitated by experts. Sustainability Tours, for example, deliver an up-close-and-personal view of how our properties make sustainable operations a top priority; classes on different casino games introduce Team Members to the rules of particular games, so they are better prepared to answer guest queries; and workshops on disaster readiness help prepare Team Members to respond to high-stress situations, such as responding to natural disasters, both in the workplace and at home.
Starting on day one, and continuing through the life of a Team Member’s employment with the company, Sands Academy supports our Team Members through a variety of educational and career-betterment opportunities.
