March 8 marked International Women’s Day and in March we celebrate Women’s History Month, a time to honor women’s achievements, raise awareness against bias, and take action for equality. NortonLifeLock is celebrating by volunteering with organizations that support women throughout the month. With a slate of fully virtual events taking place all over the world, as well as support for local organizations, we are inspiring action to promote change.

Our employees are stepping up and volunteering their time to help forge a gender-equal world. In Dublin, we held a virtual career workshop that supported women reentering the workforce with Dress for Success Dublin and United Way Worldwide. Dress for Success Dublin promotes the economic independence of women and works to build an Ireland where everyone’s skills and potential are recognized. Along with their interview wardrobe consultation, they also provide resume writing support, interview preparation, a mentoring program, and financial education workshops, helping thousands of women secure jobs and progress in their careers.

We had nine volunteers in Dublin join the volunteer event with really positive responses from employees that participated. Yoshiko Blake, a Dublin-based employee and NortonLifeLock’s WONDER (Women Outreach and Development Resources) Community Champion, volunteered at the event. After participating, she said, “Volunteering on the career panel and meeting women working to improve their lives was very impactful. The new skills they take home should better position them to make positive and lasting changes in their professional lives, and being part of that was incredibly powerful.”

Throughout March, employees are also making care packages for Dress for Success and women re-entering the work force or seeking a new career. We’re putting together Kynd Kits, project kits that are mailed to employees to enable them to volunteer from home, tailored towards job seekers to help guide them through resume creation and interview preparation.

In Arizona, employees supported Valley of the Sun United Way and Florence Crittenton Girls Leadership Academy by joining a career panel and workshop. The Leadership Academy empowers young women to succeed as leaders in their classrooms, in their communities, and in their own lives. The only free single-gender high school in Arizona, it offers small class size, early college access, and support for students through tutoring and advisory programs.

In India, volunteers joined Team Everest and The She for She initiative’s efforts to bring together professionals and girls through mentoring over a five-day period. Employee volunteers provided 30-minute virtual mentoring sessions to girls each day for a week.

While we’re excited to continue to celebrate the massive achievements of women this month and to help women in our communities, our work won’t stop at the end of March. NortonLifeLock will continue to lift up women’s voices and stories, support the movement for more equitable workplaces, and continue to take action for equality.
