2020 HACR Corporate Inclusion Index (CII) Results Released

More than half of participants in inclusion research initiative Fortune 100 companies

2020 HACR CII Report

The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) released a report today detailing findings from its 2020 Corporate Inclusion Index (CII), a comprehensive survey that evaluates Hispanic inclusion in Corporate America. Participants include many Fortune 100 companies and HACR corporate members. 

The survey began in 2009 and is led by the HACR Research Institute. Researchers use the index to measure the success of Hispanic inclusion strategies in the areas of Employment, Procurement, Philanthropy, and Governance. 70 companies participated in the 2020 CII, 39 of which were Fortune 100 companies.

This year’s survey saw 18 first-time participants:

  • BMO Harris Bank
  • BP
  • Corteva
  • CVS Health
  • Delta
  • Ecolab
  • Edison International
  • Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis
  • The Hartford
  • KPMG
  • Levi’s
  • Procter & Gamble
  • Raytheon Technologies
  • Valero Energy
  • Visa
  • Xerox

The 2020 CII revealed several key data points regarding the makeup of different facets of corporate operations, namely that Hispanics represent 15 percent of all employees and four percent of executives at participating companies.

“Despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, we had record participation in this year’s HACR Corporate Inclusion Index,” said Cid Wilson, president and CEO of HACR. “We thank all of the companies who participated in this year’s survey for your commitment to Hispanic inclusion by measurement and accountability.”

Present inclusion and diversity initiatives saw over two percent of companies’ total procurement dollars dedicated to Hispanic suppliers and a combined contribution of 16 percent of foundation and corporate giving initiatives granted to the Hispanic community.

“The data shows promising change, but we still have work ahead of us,” said Dr. Lisette Garcia, senior ­­­vice president and chief operating officer at HACR. “We consider it our responsibility to advance Hispanic representation as much as it is Corporate America’s. We look forward to continuing our work with companies who are committed to making significant strides in Hispanic inclusion in their communities and in the corporate world as a whole.”
