Corporates and nonprofits swarmed their screens as Goodera hosted its flagship online event Karma Summit. On July 22nd and 23rd, the event saw participation from world leaders, CXOs, media personalities, along with 4000+ HR and CSR professionals and nonprofits from 42 countries across the globe.

Goodera hosted Karma Summit to facilitate a dialogue on rebuilding our communities through volunteering. The event featured Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi, corporate leaders like Ursula Burns (Board member at Nestle, Uber and Exxon Mobil), Arianna Huffington (Founder, Thrive Global and Huffington Post), Rome Flynn (Emmy award winning actor) along with several other CXOs and media personalities.

Goodera revealed the Karma Hub during the event, the world’s largest collection of virtual volunteering opportunities across 90 countries. With the Karma Hub, they plan to enable every company to do good by volunteering virtually for any cause.

Ursula Burns was optimistic about the potential of Karma Hub and the impact it can create to help fuel a volunteering movement. “Karma Hub can be the perfect platform to connect the problem with the solution. Everybody has something and everybody needs something. Using technology to connect the two is what Goodera is about for me. A technology platform to augment our humanity, and the timing for such a platform could not be any better", said Burns.

Arianna Huffington remarked that in the post pandemic world solving for employee mental health is no longer an option but an imperative. "Volunteering has a measurable impact on an individual's wellbeing, both mental and physical. That is why we are very excited to be working with Goodera to provide volunteering opportunities to our employees at Thrive, and also to all the companies that we work with”, said Huffington.

The Karma Summit featured several other global leaders across industries. CHROs discussed how HR leaders are engaging employees in the post Covid world, and the role which volunteering can play in the new normal. The nonprofit panel focused on the unique challenges they are facing in the current context and about technology for virtual volunteering. Other panel discussions included perspectives from venture capital, media & marketing and CSR leaders. It also featured hands-on virtual volunteering workshops for both corporate leaders and nonprofits.

Abhishek Humbad, Founder & CEO of Goodera, said he was excited about world leaders reinforcing his confidence in the virtual volunteering movement. “Our mission is to make volunteering simple, engaging and accessible for employees, and make it easy for nonprofits to provide volunteering opportunities. This is similar to what Airbnb did for travellers and hosts - We’re doing that with the Karma Hub”, said Humbad. He also announced the launch of a community for nonprofits with global partnerships, where they will work together to enable capacity building for nonprofits around the world through virtual volunteering.
