IVECOCNH Industrial’s commercial vehicles brand, is the European leader in alternative propulsion vehicles in both the truck and bus segments, primarily with natural gas engines. IVECO, is also actively engaged in developing and bringing to market a range of alternative propulsion solutions which are right-sized to specific missions. To this end, CNH Industrial, IVECO’s parent company, have partnered with the Nikola Corporation to accelerate the industrialization of hydrogen fuel-cell and battery electric Heavy-Duty truck solutions.

"There is no time for shortcuts, together we have to do the right thing now: we the manufacturers, by accelerating the industrialization of battery electric vehicles (BEV) and hydrogen fuel cell for heavy-duty trucks in long-haul transport; the institutions, by enabling the conditions for this non-cyclical transformation," said Gerrit Marx, President of Commercial and Specialty Vehicles, CNH Industrial. These remarks were made within the context of a ‘Hydrogen Fuel Cell Trucks’, event organized by Hydrogen Europe in Brussels, Belgium with Institutional and industrial stakeholders.

Mr. Marx. illustrated IVECO’s bold plans towards carbon neutrality, the partnership with Nikola Motor Company and the NIKOLA TRE – the heavy-duty BEV truck that the partnership is developing, and which is anticipated to enter production within the first half of 2021.

At the end of the conference, a joint call for the deployment of fuel cell technology and infrastructures was signed by major stakeholders, with the aim of showing the European Commission that hydrogen trucks are the main solution for sustainable mobility and underlining the need to boost infrastructure investments for hydrogen refueling.
