Sodexo, a leading food services and facilities management company, announced today that its United States Marine Corps (USMC) East Coast operations earned a Platinum Award through the HIRE Vets Medallion Award Program. This is the only federal-level veterans’ employment award that recognizes a company or organization’s commitment to veteran hiring, retention, and professional development. This is also a very prestigious award with the U.S. Department of Labor and firmly establishes Sodexo as a preferred employer for our veterans.

The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act of 2017 (HIRE Vets Act) required the Secretary of Labor to establish a program recognizing employer efforts to recruit, employ, and retain veterans. Employer-applicants meeting established criteria receive a HIRE Vets Medallion Award.

“As the largest federal government foodservice provider and a company that serves members from all military branches on a daily basis, Sodexo keenly understands the incredible value veterans bring to the workforce,” said Kim Mullahey, Vice President, Human Resources, Sodexo Government, North America. “Not only are we proud of our work hiring veterans, we created programs and initiatives designed specifically to attract veterans to our company and retain them once on board. The HIRE Vets Medallion Award validates those efforts.”

Sodexo and all other 2019 award winners were formally recognized at a ceremony on Wednesday, November 6 in Washington, D.C. Sodexo representatives accepted a framed medallion certificate, which was signed by United States Secretary of Labor, Eugene Scalia. Lori Ready-DiGiovanni, PHR, from Sodexo’s East Coast USMC Operations represented Sodexo at the awards ceremony.

With more than 40 years of experience working municipal, state, federal and military clients, Sodexo's Government segment and its nearly 3,000 employees improve the Quality of Life for the people it serves at 150 military and U.S. Federal Government locations in 26 states. Headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Sodexo provides a variety of integrated food and facilities management solutions and is the nation's largest federal foodservice contractor – serving 45.6 million meals annually with a focus on wellness and nutrition.
