The Great Lakes Women’s Business Council, at the organization’s 19th annual conference held in Novi, honored Comerica Bank with “Best in Class” for Excellence in Supplier Diversity Award.
This marks the fifth consecutive year Comerica has earned Best in Class by the Great Lakes WBC.
Teresa LeFevre, Comerica Bank vice president and supplier diversity manager, accepted the award on behalf of the bank, which was presented by Michelle Richards, Great Lakes WBC executive director, and Jim Line, Blue Cross Blue Shield director of procurement and vice president of the Great Lakes board of directors.
To achieve Best in Class, Comerica excelled in Women’s Business Enterprises (WBE) spend, WBE capacity building, corporate integration of supplier diversity and advocacy of women-owned businesses.
The Great Lakes Women’s Business Council, a nonprofit champion for women, minority and small business owners, empowers women and minorities economically through business development training, supplier certification, business-to-business networking and accessible capital assistance programs. Founded in 1984, Great Lakes WBC provides access to capital and corporate procurement opportunities, certification for women-owned business enterprises and small business educational support.
Great Lakes WBC represents more than 1,200 WBENC-certified women’s business enterprises generating approximately $11.6 billion in annual revenue and employing 41,500 U.S. workers, as well as 90+ corporate partners in a diverse range of industry sectors.
The Great Lakes WBC award adds to several Michigan and national honors the bank has received this year in recognizing Comerica’s commitment to diversity, including:
