As Hurricane Harvey continues to bring catastrophic flooding and devastation to parts of Southeast Texas, Albertsons Companies is mobilizing its entire chain of 2,300+ stores across the U.S. to aid in the disaster relief effort.

The company announced a nationwide fundraiser to help the tens of thousands of people in the affected areas meet their basic needs.  In addition, Albertsons Companies and the Albertsons Companies Foundation is matching the first $200,000 donated by customers.

"As a company with a long and proud presence in Texas, including the hardest-hit areas, we're committed to helping our neighbors get through this crisis," said Chairman and CEO Bob Miller. "We know that the needs are immense, but so is our resolve for making a meaningful impact on the emergency response and humanitarian efforts. Our thoughts and prayers are with Texas."

All donations will go directly to several disaster relief and outreach organizations that are on the ground in Southeast Texas, including the local Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and other respected organizations that provide disaster outreach in the region. Donations can be made at checkstands at any of the company's 20 retail banners, including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw's, ACME Markets, Tom Thumb, Randalls, United Supermarkets, Pavilions, Star Market, Haggen, Carrs, and others.

Along with the financial assistance, the company's Albertsons and Tom Thumb stores in Dallas—Fort Worth donated refrigerated tractor trailers to bring and store food at the Salvation Army's rescue shelter in Houston. They are also working with multiple food banks throughout Texas to provide food and other necessities to multiple emergency shelters in and around Houston and Dallas—Fort Worth.
