WASHINGTON, D.C., Mar. 22 /CSRwire/ - In honor of World Water Day, Global Water Challenge (GWC) and The Coca-Cola Foundation (TCCF) announce a new partnership to catalyze solutions for safe water challenges across Central Asia, South Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The New World Program (NWP) will provide catalytic grants totaling nearly $2MM for water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and economic empowerment programs across these regions.
Focused on supporting innovative, inclusive, and sustainable progress towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the NWP encourages the participation of civil society organizations to support solutions in the areas of WASH and women’s and youth empowerment.
The grant funding will be awarded through a call for proposals, with selected projects anticipated to begin work in June 2017. Funding will be awarded to organizations working in the following 18 countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Gambia, Georgia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russian Federation, South Africa, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Zimbabwe. Organizations that are eligible for NWP funding include: Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), development cooperatives, regional development agencies, and capacity development institutes.

GWC is managing the third phase of funding for the NWP, which originally launched in 2014 with the United Nations Development Programme. A leading not-for-profit 501(c)3 with over a decade of experience supporting high-impact WASH programming and partnerships around the world, GWC will leverage its extensive network and management expertise for the benefit of the NWP partnership.
