MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 22 /CSRwire/ - The Enlight Foundation provided World Savvy with a $1M gift, which will be invested over five years, in support of the organization’s work preparing K-12 students in the U.S. as global citizens. World Savvy’s work ensures that all K-12 students graduate equipped to participate as active citizens in more diverse local communities, prepared as problem solvers ready to address global challenges, and ready for jobs in a global economy.

“We need this work now more than ever, and we were impressed with World Savvy’s success building a generation of global citizens across the U.S.,” said Enlight Foundation President Xin Liu.

The gift, which is an investment in World Savvy’s $5M growth capital campaign, will fund expansion of the organization’s work in its key geographies of the San Francisco Bay Area, the Twin Cities and the New York City area, and nationally. Specifically, it will fund the development of new tools and resources that will support K-12 educators as they prepare their students to succeed and lead in college and beyond as part of a more globally competent workforce.

“At World Savvy, we believe that as U.S. communities become more diverse and the world becomes more interconnected, global competence is a defining characteristic of a quality K-12 education,” said CEO Dana Mortenson. “We are at a tipping point in this work, at a time when it’s never been more urgently needed. This generous investment will help us capitalize on growing demand for global competence programs and services from schools and districts across the country, as they work to prepare their students as global citizens and changemakers.”
