Preserve®, a leading producer of sustainable consumer goods with a focus on creating closed loop products using recycled plastic, today announced the launch of Preserve 2 Go™.  Preserve 2 Go is a durable, reusable clamshell container designed for use in food services.  Developed to transform the takeout food experience and to provide an avenue for a more sustainable, eco-friendly system, Preserve 2 Go provides the opportunity to eliminate the unnecessary waste of millions of disposable to-go containers.

Preserve 2 Go is born from Preserve’s tradition of using recycled materials to create products that are high quality, sustainably designed, and look great. Like all of Preserve’s products, the Preserve 2 Go container is manufactured in the United States from polypropylene (#5) plastic and features at least 50 percent recycled content. Unlike bio- and fiber-based alternatives, the three-compartment Preserve 2 Go seals tightly, is BPA-free, microwave-durable, NSF certified, and designed for 300+ uses in food service operations. The container, which measures 9” x 9” x 2.7”, is available in two great colors – clear green and apple green.

Preserve 2 Go is designed for compatibility with the OZZI collection system, a technology solution created by the Rhode Island based company AGreenOzzi, which adds an element of accountability to food service takeout programs.  After eating, diners deposit their containers in OZZI machines and are then given a credit toward their next takeout container.  Containers are removed from the machine regularly and are properly sanitized for the next use.  Tom Wright, CEO of AGreenOzzi says, “Our mission is to offer customers an alternative to disposable to-go containers using our system, which aligns with Preserve’s commitment to empower people to make choices that lighten their impact on the earth in their everyday lives."

Eric Hudson, the founder and CEO of Preserve imagined Preserve 2 Go as a complement to Preserve’s food service line.  Hudson said, “For over three years, we have been researching this marketplace, talking with operators, food service companies, and retailers, in an effort to address their concerns about waste generated by single-use packaging. We know from established use hierarchies, process and product life cycle assessments, that washing and reusing makes environmental and economic sense!”

Known for its forward-thinking toothbrushes, razors, tableware, and kitchenware made from recycled plastics, Preserve has proven that recycled doesn’t mean a compromise in form or function.  The Preserve 2 Go reusable container was designed in partnership with Berry Plastics. Berry Plastics, who is also the manufacturer of Preserve 2 Go, partnered with Preserve in 2013 as part of Preserve’s Gimme 5 program, a consumer powered recycling program, which offers expanded recycling options for #5 plastics.
