Today CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) announced a $200,000 contribution, which will be distributed to four global Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) organizations – Apps for Good, Girls Who Code, GVI Charitable Trust and Iracambi. This initiative is in partnership with the online donation marketplace, GlobalGiving. The donation marks a year-long celebration of the mainframe’s 50^th anniversary and recognizes those who will drive IT innovation in the next 50 years.

“Investing in the future of IT is a top priority at CA Technologies, and that future is driven by the innovators and people who dream up the technology of tomorrow,” said Mike Madden, general manager, Mainframe, CA Technologies. “Our partnership with GlobalGiving enables us to support outstanding STEM organizations that seek to inspire next-gen technologists and creative thinkers who will shape the next wave of IT.”

The recipient organizations were selected on their dedication to STEM education. Iracambi’s Junior Scientist program transforms students into guardians of Brazil’s Atlantic Rainforest. Girls Who Code works to provide young women with the skills and resources to pursue opportunities in computing fields, both professional and academic. GVI Charitable Trust supports educational and training initiatives for disadvantaged students in Australia through the National Scholarship Program, and Apps for Good helps young people solve problems in their communities through mobile, social and web application development.

In addition to the STEM education campaign, CA Technologies is continuing its celebration of the 50^th anniversary of the mainframe with a video series, which focuses on themes like “Technology of the Future” and “What today’s generation imagines IT to be.” A series of online panels is taking place featuring CA Technologies executives, educators and industry influencers discussing compelling IT trends powered by the mainframe, such as Internet of Things, Mobility, Big Data and more.
