Divine, the farmer-owned chocolate company, is delighted to announce the addition of five new flavors, all certified Halal, to its popular range of 3.5 oz premium chocolate bars.

Two of the new bars highlight innovative projects that Divine and Kuapa support together in Ghana to improve the lives of the 80,000 cocoa farmers who belong to the Kuapa Kokoo cooperative. The farmers of Kuapa Kokoo not only grow and harvest all Divine’s cocoa, but also own the biggest share of Divine Chocolate. These new bars are available online and at a growing range of retailers nationwide.

More information about Divine and Kuapa's work together is available at www.divinechocolate.com/impact.

Divine 38% Milk Chocolate with Toffee & Sea Salt: Divine has taken its seriously smooth milk chocolate, made with a higher cocoa content of 38%, and added a dash of sea salt to perfectly counterpoint the sweet crunch of toffee. The bar’s wrapper features the Kuapa Radio Hour, an innovative radio program designed by Kuapa Kokoo and Divine to farmer education and democracy. The program keeps farmers up-to-date on cocoa news, provides expert advice, educates farmers about Fair Trade and allows farmers to call in with questions. The show has a powerful effect on the cooperative’s cohesion – endorsing the pride farmers feel in their Kuapa Kokoo membership, the high quality of the cocoa they produce, and their ownership of their own chocolate brand, Divine.

Divine Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Truffle: Rich, sweet and smooth – this bar evokes the delight of European gift chocolates with each bite. The bar’s wrapper features Kuapa's Women Empowerment Program, a pioneering program that – for nearly two decades – has trained women to be better cocoa farmers and to prepare them for leadership positions in the cooperative. Increased training results in better cocoa income for the women, which allows them to keep their children, including girls, in school longer.

Divine fans should also look for three other delicious Fair Trade chocolate experiences coming to stores in March 2014:

Divine 70% Dark Chocolate with Mango and Coconut: Featuring Divine’s rich velvety dark chocolate with real pieces of fairtrade mango and coconut for a luscious tropical twist.

Divine 70% Dark Chocolate with Whole Almonds and Divine 38% Milk Chocolate with Whole Almonds: Divine tracked down the most perfectly crunchy fairtrade almonds from small scale farmers in Pakistan to ensure that its version of the top-selling chocolate and whole nut combination lives up to the Divine name. Available in both Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate variants, these bars will be sure to tempt whole-nut chocolate lovers.

All Divine Chocolate products are Fair Trade certified according to Fairtrade International standards. Visit www.info.fairtrade.net. Halal certification on products listed above provided by m-Haditec.
