This week at the SHARE Conference, CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) awarded scholarships to two very talented recipients—Rudolfs Dambis and Jan Sadek—who have demonstrated a desire to master mainframe programming skills and pursue a career in the field. With $1 million in scholarships committed through 2016, this marks the scholarship program’s fourth year.

All scholarship recipients are given the opportunity to attend the Mainframe Academy, an accelerated, vendor-agnostic program offered by CA Technologies that arms IT professionals with core programming skills to manage mainframe environments.

Dambis and Sadek are studying engineering at the University of Nevada, LV and the Rzeszów University of Technology in Poland, respectively. Both were chosen based on their experience, career goals, creativity and problem-solving skills.

The scholarship program is open to applicants around the world and is part of CA Technologies ongoing commitment to help increase the skilled workforce and invest in the future of mainframe. The Mainframe Academy curriculum prepares recipients with the skills they need to seek employment in the mainframe sector in a variety of industries including banking, financial services and in the public sector – all of which still rely heavily on the mainframe to run mission-critical IT processes.
