Global Impact is proud to announce the launch of the Global Impact Women & Girls Fund during the week of International Women’s Day, March 3 – 9. This fund brings together four of the most respected, best-in-the-business international organizations focused on helping women and girls: CARE, World Vision, Plan International USA and the International Center for Research on Women.

“These charities are leaders on the issues that women and girls face each day. Global Impact has brought them together under one fund so that people passionate about helping women and girls, as well as corporations, associations and foundations, can help the work of all four of these charities by giving in one place,” said Global Impact President and CEO Scott Jackson. “Contributions to this unique fund go directly to supporting real and meaningful work to improve the lives of women and girls all over the world,” continued Jackson.

Global Impact recognizes that lifting women and girls out of poverty is the key to eradicating poverty across the globe. By investing in a girl, she can lift herself out of poverty and abuse, altering the condition of her family, her community and, ultimately, the world.

Global poverty has decreased over the last three decades, yet the percentage of women living in poverty continues to rise. The majority of the roughly one billion people in the world who live in extreme poverty are women. Women and girls make up 98 percent of trafficking victims. Two-thirds of the children denied primary education are girls. Sixty-six percent of women are illiterate. Women control less than 10 percent of the world’s assets while performing two-thirds of all labor to produce more than half of the world’s food.

Through the Global Impact Women & Girls Fund, individual donors will join with millions of people to change the world by helping to provide a host of services to women and girls, including:

  • Education
  • Protection and rehabilitation from violence and exploitation
  • Job training
  • Healthcare
  • Safe drinking water
  • And more

Global Impact is publicly launching the fund on March 4 at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s International Women’s Day Forum in New York. In addition, on Friday, March 7, at 2 p.m. ET we will host a Twitter chat with Mom Bloggers for Social Good, a coalition of 2000+ mom bloggers spanning more than 20 countries.
