The American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) today announced that Tech Networks of Boston has joined ASBC, a business policy advocacy group based in Washington, DC.

“As technology becomes ever more present in our globalized world, it is imperative that the technology industry not only continue to contribute to the economy, but also benefit the environment. Tech Networks of Boston is proving that green approaches to technology make sense financially and for the environment,” said David Levine, CEO and Co-founder of ASBC.

“Business has an important role to play in creating a sustainable economy that works to create real prosperity for everyone while securing our future. The American Sustainable Business Council represents the voice of progressive business and engaged business leaders who want to speak out on issues ranging from immigration to climate change,” said Susan Labandibar President and founder of Tech Networks of Boston.

Susan Labandibar has been a leader in climate-related advocacy, recently participating in the launch of small business signers to the Climate Declaration, co-sponsored by ASBC and Ceres BICEP. She said, “Small business owners are flexible and adaptable to changing economic conditions, but not to disastrous weather and climate. Our livelihoods could be easily wiped away by a storm like Sandy. We signed the Declaration and are here in Washington to remind members of Congress that responding to this problem – rather than wishing it away – is the course of action that will lead to a better economic outlook for American businesses.”

Another project that Tech Networks recently helped launch is the Climate Action Liaison Coalition, which has the twin missions of enabling businesses to improve environmental measures and empowering business leaders to speak out against climate change. ASBC is supporting the growth of the program nationally.

Founded in 1995, Tech Networks of Boston delivers help desk, remote monitoring and maintenance, staff augmentation, onsite support, training and project IT services to non-profits and businesses in greater Boston, with a focus on non-profit health care, green technology and human service providers. In addition, through partnerships with local educational institutions, Tech Networks provides internships for participants in computer training programs.

The American Sustainable Business Council and its member organizations represent more than 150,000 businesses nationwide, and more than 300,000 entrepreneurs, executives, managers, and investors. American Sustainable Business Council

The American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) is a national coalition of mission-driven businesses, social enterprises and sustainable business networks working to create a vibrant, just and sustainable economy. What unites us is a deep belief that we must move to a new economy that is grounded in principles of sustainability and equity.

The Council represents over 55,000 businesses and enterprises and more than 150,000 executives, owners, investors, entrepreneurs and business professionals. It is comprised of partners, which are organizations that represent businesses and social enterprises as well as entrepreneurs, executives, owners and investors committed to building a vibrant, just, and sustainable economy.

ASBC promotes policy change by educating and informing the business community, policy makers and the media about the business case for change, and by engaging the leaders of businesses and enterprises in building broad support for the policies America needs. We work on a range of policy areas, including: financial reform, health care, chemicals policy, climate change and business taxes.

We believe that the policies that will lead us to a sustainable and just economy are also good for business and good for America. Making the right commitments and investments will produce more and better jobs, build strength in key technologies, and make the U.S. more independent and secure.
