CSX Corporation, in partnership with Dignity U Wear, today announced that they will provide $110,000 worth of clothing to thousands of school children of all ages in 11 cities as part of its company-wide “Delivering Dignity” campaign.

Clothing, funded with money raised over the holiday season by CSX employees in each of its 10 divisions, will be delivered through local charities, including Woodbourne in Baltimore, Md.; Child Enrichment in Augusta, Ga.; Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee in Nashville, Tenn.; Home of the Innocents in Louisville, Ky.; SOS Children’s Villages Illinois in Chicago, Ill.; Parsons Child and Family Center in Albany, N.Y.; Chris Kids in Atlanta, Ga.; Lutheran Child and Family Services in Indianapolis, Ind.; the Boys & Girls Club of Harlan in Harlan, Ky.; the Boys and Girls Club of Miami in Miami, Fla.; and Voices of the Children in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Jacksonville, Baltimore, Chicago and Atlanta CSX Divisions, having brought in the most donations in the effort, will present additional items to their charities including lunchboxes, socks, underwear and warm blankets.

Dignity U Wear is a national organization based in Jacksonville, that has distributed more than 6.6 million pieces of clothing valued at more than $125 million to more than 500,000 individuals in all 50 states.

CSX Corporation has partnered with the organization for more than three years through its intermodal move program, including a 2009 delivery of 64 loads of clothing worth $128,000 donated by Men’s Wearhouse.

“Dignity U Wear doesn’t simply deliver shirts, pants, dresses, shoes and other apparel,” says Tori Kaplan, CSX assistant vice president-corporate social responsibility. “For so many of these school children, they deliver self-esteem, a chance to simply fit in and focus on their schoolwork.  We believe that every child should be safe, secure and in an environment that encourages them to follow their dreams. That’s why we’re so proud to play a part in these very important efforts.”

“We are so thankful for CSX and their commitment to improving the communities where their employees live. New clothing has a huge impact on the self-esteem of children and lets them know that someone cares about them. At this particular time of year, the message of hope is critical,” said Barbara Truncellito, executive director of Dignity U Wear.
