The California Product Stewardship Council (CPSC), an organization that recognizes California-based businesses for outstanding leadership, innovation and partnerships in product stewardship and green design, announced Opportunity Green as the recipient of the Golden Arrow Award for Overall Excellence in Product Stewardship.

Opportunity Green has been awarded the Golden Arrow for its extensive sustainability initiatives throughout the year, including its marquee annual conference, scheduled for this November 10-11. CPSC acknowledges that the education provided to Opportunity Green attendees enhances sustainability awareness that enables individuals and businesses to significantly reduce their environmental impact, fostering significant long-term benefits to sustainability in the business-environment. Opportunity Green also hosts an eco-startup competition, the OG25 Innovation Awards. This annual green startup competition, held during the conference, recognizes twenty-five of the most innovative eco-startups of the year committed to building a new green economy. The competition puts the startup companies face to face with potential investors. Many successful relationships have formed as a result the conference, helping companies with innovative sustainable business ideas get off the ground. 

In an industry that is notorious for its wasteful effects, the events industry is second only to the construction industry, Opportunity Green practices what it preaches.   Executing a conference with as close to zero-waste as possible, Opportunity Green successfully diverted 97% of the waste produced during its annual conference in 2010. Additionally, all design features at the conference (furniture, textiles, signage, etc.) come from sustainable suppliers, using as many recyclable and compostable components as possible. Art installations are created using re-purposed elements and are re-formatted to create unique artistic creations in subsequent years.

Opportunity Green proudly accepted the Golden Arrow Award during the 35^th annual conference of the California Resource Recovery Association, held in San Diego last week.
