LOS ANGELES, Jun. 20 /CSRwire/ - Calling all Facebook users: Delta Dental Companies is encouraging members of the social network to take up the fight to help thousands of your uninsured, fellow citizens get the dental care they need. In a Causes on Facebook campaign, Delta Dental is donating one dollar for each person who joins the Cause and is matching every dollar donated up to $100,000 (http://apps.facebook.com/causes/592898). Over $41,000 has been raised so far but more joiners are needed to make the campaign's goal.

The campaign, begun in March, is the result of a relationship brokered by social media philanthropy experts Social Reality. Funds raised will be used to purchase mobile equipment for the charity dental clinics of America's Dentists Care Foundation and America's Missions of Mercy (MOM), which provides care to underserved dental patients in 17 states. Since the first MOM events in 2000, dental volunteers have provided care to more than 100,000 people -- valued at more than $50 million.

"We are so thankful the more than 41,000 Facebook users who have already joined this Cause to help real people with a pressing health problem," said Christopher Miglino, Co-Founder and CEO of Social Reality. "This momentum can and should continue - if you haven't already joined us please do; if you have, tell your friends to come on board. Your fellow citizens need you and this simple act can make a genuine difference in people’s lives."

"Delta Dental companies have been big supporters of Mission of Mercy events at the state level, so we've seen firsthand the incredible impact this organization is having on the lives of those in need of dental care," said Chris Pyle, director of public relations and community benefits. "We are hopeful the Facebook community will embrace this cause and look forward to contributing to the Missions of Mercy on a national level."

"This donation from Delta Dental will mean that we are able to purchase the equipment needed to continue providing free dental care to the underserved," said Bruce Bergstrom, executive director of the America's Dentists Care Foundation, which supports the America’s Missions of Mercy (MOM) events.

"Thank you -- I am so blessed to have been given this opportunity," said Facebook campaign fan and dental-services recipient C.J. Briggs. "You have made a significant change in my life and I will forever be grateful for your services!"

Headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, The America's Dentists Care Foundation (www.adcfmom.org) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing and maintaining all the equipment necessary to put on a "MOM" event. Missions of Mercy events are now held in 17 states: Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The organization plans to expand the missions to 24 states by the year 2012. To do so, though, they will need another 18-wheeler full of mobile dental equipment, which the Causes on Facebook can help provide.
