Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder and owner of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% for the Planet is a growing global movement of over 1,400 businesses in 44 countries that donate one percent of their sales to environmental organizations worldwide. Each day, more than one new business joins the 1% for the Planet movement. The 1% network has contributed over $70 million since 2002, making it among the largest funders of environmental work worldwide. 1% for the Planet: The Music, Vol. 1 is a one-of-a-kind music compilation. A diverse group of artists, including Jack Johnson, Mason Jennings, Chris Velan, Josh Ritter and Jackson Browne, donated rare and exclusive tracks to produce the first album dedicated to supporting the environment.
