/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ - St. Andrews Country Club congratulates Craig Martin C.C.M, the club's Chief Operating Officer and General Manager as the recipient of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) Leadership Award at the CMAA World Conference in Orlando in front of an audience of 2,500. Martin accepted the award, which honored his leadership of the We Care Haiti Relief Aid and the construction of a school in Petit Goave, Haiti funded by and named after the CMAA.

"We applaud the CMAA in recognizing Craig's leadership role in establishing We Care Haiti Relief Aid. This fund directly provided aid to Florida private country club Haitian employees and went a step further and built a much needed school in partnership with Food For The Poor," stated Roy Schwedelson, President, Board of Governors St. Andrews Country Club.

The new school dedicated in November 2010 will educate approximately 125 children ranging in age from 6 to 14 and consists of six classrooms, two offices and restroom facilities. The schoolhouse provides a safe and sturdy facility for the youth in Petit Goave to continue their education on a path to a better life.

Martin has been an active member of the CMAA and earned his Certified Club Manager (C.C.M.) designation early in his career. In September 2010, he received the CMAA Florida Chapter Most Valuable Member Award. Over the past 25 years Martin has served the CMAA both locally and nationally in a variety of positions including National CMAA Committee Member: Premier Club Services, Certification and Club Champion Golf Tournament; Florida Chapter Board of Governors, Regional Director and Legislative Chairman, Co-Chairman - Club Foundation Fundraising Committee and Strategic Planning Committee Member for six consecutive years. Martin is frequently invited as a guest speaker to various educational assemblies including the CMAA World Conference and well-known universities.

The Club Managers Association of America is the professional Association for managers of membership clubs. CMAA has close to 7,000 members across the United States and approximately 700 members in the Florida Chapter. Manager members run more than 3,000 country, golf, city, athletic, faculty, yacht, town and military clubs. The objectives of the Association are to promote and advance friendly relations among persons connected with the management of clubs and other associations of similar character; to encourage the education and advancement of members; and to assist club officers and members, through their managers, to secure the utmost in efficient and successful operations.
