Global Impact, whose mission is to assure help for the world's most vulnerable people, announced today that it has selected Partners In Health and Millennium Promise to join its alliance of internationally-focused charities. Global Impact has raised more than $1.3 billion for relief and development programs since it was founded in 1956.

"Partners In Health and Millennium Promise build sustainable solutions for people affected by extreme poverty and disease," said Renée S. Acosta, President and CEO, Global Impact. "Their work will expand the breadth and depth of our alliance as we raise funds to meet critical humanitarian needs around the world."

Global Impact raises funds for 58 of the most respected international relief and development charities. Each Global Impact member is carefully evaluated before being invited to join. Global Impact's commitment to financial integrity results in excellent ratings including the Charity Navigator Four-Star Rating and Seal Holder status from the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance.

About the Charities
Partners In Health works in 12 countries around the world to provide quality health care to people and communities devastated by joint burdens of poverty and disease. Partners In Health is focused on three goals: to care for their patients, to alleviate the root causes of disease in their patients' communities and to share lessons learned around the world.

Partners In Health founder Dr. Paul Farmer is the subject of Tracy Kidder's 2003 book Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, a Man Who Would Cure the World. The book narrates the interactions and conflicts Dr. Farmer faces as he attempts to secure health care for the poor in Haiti.

"We are very pleased to become a member of the Global Impact partnership," says Susan Sayers, Chief Development Officer, Partners In Health. "It is an inspiration to be associated with such wonderful organizations working towards the common goals of effective international development and real social change."

Millennium Promise is a leading international not-for-profit organization committed to supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals to halve extreme poverty by 2015. Millennium Promise oversees the Millennium Villages project, which supports integrated social and business development services for more than 500,000 people in rural communities across 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. By engaging donor countries, corporations and the general public in this effort, their work is premised on the belief that, for the first time in history, our generation has the opportunity to end extreme poverty, hunger and disease disparities.

"We are honored to be working with Global Impact," stated John McArthur, CEO, Millennium Promise. "Much of the progress in tackling extreme poverty around the world has been due to innovative partnerships spanning nonprofits, governments, companies and engaged citizens. We look forward to partnering with Global Impact and its remarkable network to promote ongoing breakthroughs in support of the world’s most vulnerable populations."
