The fourth edition of the report from Groom Energy Solutions added Energy Management features as a new selection criteria for vendors due to a shift in customer demand.

The report entitled "The 2011 Enterprise Energy and Carbon Accounting (EECA) Software Market -- A Buyers Guide" evaluated 75 vendors across several dimensions to determine the strength of the technology and of the company. The main focus was on customer deployments and quality of customer references, along with the solution capabilities for carbon management and energy management. The report emphasizes that as the market matures more and more companies are moving beyond reporting and are basing their software purchase decisions on the combined carbon and energy management capabilities of vendors.
