ING, for the fifth consecutive year, has received a perfect score of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2011 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a survey that assesses American workplaces on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality.

"ING is honored to receive this recognition for the fifth year in a row," said Rob Leary, chief executive officer, ING Insurance U.S. "Participating in the survey allows us to annually review our LGBT workplace policies and practices, ensuring we continue to improve how we maintain an inclusive environment for our employees. It also provides us with an opportunity to benchmark our efforts against other leading companies."

A total of 615 companies were rated in the 2011 CEI on a scale from zero to 100%, including the entire Fortune 500 with 338 businesses achieving the top rating of 100% - an 11% increase over last year.

"Banking and financial services companies were among the top five industries for employers that scored 100%," added Rhonda Mims, president of the ING Foundation and senior vice president of ING's Office of Corporate Responsibility and Multicultural Affairs. "Our LGBT employee resource group has taken the lead in helping us build an inclusive work environment and gaining a better understanding of the LGBT community - all in an effort to ensure equality and fairness internally for our employees and externally in the communities we serve."
