Presidio Graduate School executive program offering expands to Boston

In an effort to meet the growing demand for leaders skilled in sustainable business, Presidio Graduate School "“ the country's largest and fastest growing graduate school designed around the principles of sustainability "“ is expanding its executive education certificate program to the east coast. The Sustainable Management Executive Certificate program launches on October 13 in partnership with Holland & Knight "“ a global law firm.

Presidio Graduate School, established in 2003, offers MBA and MPA programs in Sustainable Management, in which environmental concerns and social responsibility are integrated into every course. The 5-month Certificate program, targeted to mid- to senior-level managers, executives and entrepreneurs, is modeled after the MBA curriculum with traditional business disciplines taught through the lens of sustainability.

"Today more professionals -- having already achieved a high level of business mastery "“ need to know how to implement sustainability principles and practices in order to stay competitive in the marketplace," said Presidio Graduate School Interim President, Amy McCombs. "Our Certificate program will prepare them to lead their companies to a more successful and sustainable way of doing business "“ one that enhances all forms of capital, including natural, human and financial."

Like Presidio's MBA students, executive participants will be encouraged to explore real-world business challenges. Proficiency in sustainable management will be demonstrated through the successful development of a specific project or venture plan that addresses an opportunity within a participant's organization. Through coursework and direct application, participants will learn to implement sustainable practices that result in competitive advantage, market leadership, and enhanced bottom line business value.

Taught at a graduate level, the Executive Program provides students with the frameworks of sustainable management and how they're applied in business. Program graduates gain the expertise and skills required to implement sustainable practices within their organization, move beyond environmental performance to address the economic, leadership and social capital aspects of sustainability and become members of a highly engaged community of business leaders and sustainability experts.

The official announcement will come at a reception to celebrate the partnership and network with business and sustainability leaders from coast to coast. The reception will be an opportunity to learn more about how the executive program will connect, inspire and educate business leaders to both understand and apply sustainable solutions that transform traditional business strategies.

The reception details are:

DATE: Wednesday, October 13, 2010
TIME: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Holland & Knight, 10 St. James Avenue, 11th Floor, Boston, MA 02116

THE RECEPTION IS OPEN TO THE MEDIA

"We are thrilled to be partnering with Presidio to offer its leading sustainable business management program to corporate executives," said Jeff Seul, a partner with Holland & Knight in Boston and a member of Presidio's East Coast Advisory Council. "We take great pride in the work we do to help clients orient their operations around sustainability principles and take advantage of new opportunities created by the global drive toward carbon neutrality. This is another excellent opportunity for us to contribute to the adoption of sustainable business practices."
