/PRNewswire/ - Albemarle Corporation - The Albemarle Foundation, an endowed 501 (c)(3) that serves as the primary source for corporate and employee philanthropic giving, recently contributed $250,000 to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank's from Hunger to Hope campaign, bringing them closer to their $3 million goal.

"Our involvement with from Hunger to Hope, a project that serves to dramatically improve the Food Bank's ability to provide hunger relief, truly embodies the Foundation's mission of making a positive and sustainable difference in our community," says Sandra Holub, Director of the Albemarle Foundation.

The Albemarle Foundation's support of the Food Bank is the natural extension of Albemarle employee's support of the nonprofit that feeds 171,000 people annually. "This is just another demonstration of how much Albemarle, the Albemarle Foundation and Albemarle employees are truly engaged and contributing to improve our community. Their generous and continued support is helping the Food Bank bring more people from hunger to hope," says Mike Manning, President and CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank

According to Feeding America, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank distributed over 10.8 million pounds of food in 2009 to 11 parishes surrounding and including East Baton Rouge parish. The "from Hunger to Hope" campaign will fund the acquisition and renovation of a larger warehouse facility that will allow the Food Bank to accept, process and distribute even more food on an annual basis.
