Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI) announced its donation of $130,000 USD to Hurricane Alex relief efforts in Monterrey, Mexico. The donation, made over the past weeks, included the combined contributions from Johnson Controls employees, distributors and the LTH social marketing fund, will be used to aid the local community and Johnson Controls employees who were impacted by the hurricane.

A $50,000 donation from Johnson Controls was presented to the Caritas organization in Monterrey, Mexico on Friday, July 23, by company executives. The Caritas organization was founded in 1884 to provide assistance and community development to people in need around the world.

This donation, combined with $80,000 in local contributions from employees, seven Johnson Controls distributors, and the LTH social marketing fund, brings the total Johnson Controls donation to $130,000.

The donations will be used to rebuild homes and provide needed household supplies, such as bedding, personal cleaning items, food, and food preparation equipment.

In addition, 157 Johnson Controls plant employees delivered 1,200 aid packages to local residents. Through these employee volunteer teams, our company was one of the first organizations to respond to local disaster relief.

"As a company, we value employee volunteerism and engagement in our communities," said Charles A. Harvey, vice president of diversity and public affairs for Johnson Controls. "In times of need, our company and its employees reach out to support local communities. Our commitment to local area needs is exemplified by our support of the relief and reconstruction efforts in Monterrey."

The company's LTH social marketing fund is a program focused on supporting social and environmental awareness, education programs, the automotive industry development and the local community during events such as Hurricane Alex. LTH is the brand name of Johnson Controls' automotive batteries in Mexico.
