PLANO, Texas, Jul. 20 /CSRwire/ - As part of a continuing commitment to become a leader in corporate social responsibility, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. (NYSE:DPS) has appointed Tim Gratto to the newly created position of vice president of sustainability.
Gratto will be responsible for leading all sustainability efforts, including strategic planning and programming, as well as monitoring and reporting on all sustainability performance indicators. He will chair DPS's CSR steering committee comprised of senior leaders from various line and staff functions throughout the business. He will also work to build relationships with non-governmental organizations, regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders to ensure the company's social and environmental policies and practices continue to serve the public interest.
Gratto, who has been with DPS since 2007 as vice president of environmental health & safety (EHS) over the company's warehouse and fleet operations, will report to Tina Barry, senior vice president of corporate affairs and member of the company's executive leadership team.
"This is a very important step for Dr Pepper Snapple Group as a relatively new, independent company, and we're pleased to have an experienced leader like Tim driving our sustainability agenda forward," said Barry. "He has a successful track record in his role handling EHS for our Packaged Beverages team, and his previous operations and plant management experience gives him a keen understanding of the diverse challenges we face on the manufacturing side of the business, from workplace safety and wellness to environmental sustainability. He will be instrumental to our efforts to meet the long-term corporate social responsibility goals we recently established."
Last month, DPS released its first corporate social responsibility report, Sustainability in ACTION, along with five-year goals for performance in environmental sustainability, health & wellness, workplace environment, philanthropy and ethical sourcing. The report is available on the company's website at www.drpeppersnapplegroup.com/sustainability.
Gratto joined DPS from Nestlé Waters North America, where he held numerous positions in manufacturing operations, starting in 1998 as a safety manager at the company’s Poland Spring, Maine, facility. With Nestle, he progressed to plant manager in Los Angeles, followed by stints as operations manager and Midwest supply chain manager based in Stanwood, Mich.
Prior to a previous position with SONOCO products as production manager, Gratto served in the United States Army for 21 years, beginning in 1974 as an enlisted soldier and culminating as a chief pilot for the U.S. Special Operations Command.
