The Swiss multinational engineering company Sulzer has released its Sustainability Report 2009 at http://ethicalperformance.com/reports/links/sulzer-sustainability

The report, which has received the application level A+ of the Global Reporting Initiative, documents how the company is aiming to continuously improve its sustainability performance.

Among achievements highlighted in the document are further reductions in the frequency of accidents, with a cut in 2009 by 25 per cent to 5.6. For 2010, the target has again been lowered to 4.5 with a long-term goal of zero accidents.

There are also statistics on how Sulzer has cut hazardous waste production per net value added, and the report outlines how the company is working on new business areas such as non-food-based biofuels and thermal solar power, which will help reduce dependency on fossil-based fuels.

The Sustainability Report 2009, with a full GRI content index and additional information, can be found at http://ethicalperformance.com/reports/links/sulzer-sustainability
