UCLA Sustainability & Corporate Leadership: Informed Green Strategies for Your Firm

UCLA, a top-tier research university that is consistently rated among the greenest universities, is launching an intensive one-week program in sustainability and corporate leadership this summer. Participants will be immersed in the latest research and methodologies that support environmental management while enhancing corporate performance.

The program calls upon the expertise of several UCLA faculty members who are leaders and innovators in their field, including Matthew Kahn, Magali Delmas, Glen MacDonald, and J.K. DeShazo. Each of these experts will lead the group for one intensive day of study and discussion.

Because today's business climate encourages corporations to recognize the net gain of incorporating environmental considerations into business or operational strategies, UCLA has chosen to concentrate on translating emerging environmental challenges into business opportunities.

Specific topics covered in the program include current environmental and resource issues, governmental policy, regulation and industry dynamics, environmental product differentiation, environmental management systems, the link between environmental focus and operational excellence, stakeholder communication and crisis management, and the environment as it relates to economic development and international business.

There will also be a site visit to a local corporation to observe sustainability strategy in action and to discuss challenges currently being faced with corporate leadership.

By the end of the program, participants should be able to determine why environmentally sound strategies are important for their business' long-term success and act in an informed manner.

This program has been developed for mid- to high-level local and multinational corporate executives and managers who recognize the importance of incorporating green innovations into their corporation's brand management, operations, and products.

UCLA Sustainability and Corporate Leadership takes place on the UCLA campus and participants will have access to campus facilities, including athletic, recreation, and library resources. For more information, visit http://www.specialprograms.ucla.edu/SustainableBusiness/overview.htm.
