CSRwire, the Corporate Social Responsibility Newswire has joined forces with Sparkseed to communicate the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability in today's business environment. As part of their partnership agreement, Sparkseed will now be helping to increase the exposure of Corporate Social Responsibility news and CSRwire has offered their services to increase support for Social Innovators.

On December 1st 2009, Sparkseed - a nonprofit organization that invests in college social entrepreneurs - is launching a National Social Innovation Competition. The deadline for entries is February 7th 2010, and on April 1st 10 student-led ventures will be chosen to receive mentoring, seed money, skills training, and professional services to help them launch their pro-social ventures. CSRwire has offered their services to provide tools and exposure that will help these student-led ventures succeed. Students with the next world-changing idea are invited to apply at www.sparkseed.org/apply.

About Sparkseed
Sparkseed is an organization dedicated harnessing the creative energy of college students and supporting them while they address the world's most pressing social issues. Sparkseed is highly-selective, electing to work only with ventures that have a solid business model, clear ROI, and potential to scale. Through intensive skill-building workshops, infrastructure development, and brand strategizing, Sparkseed ensures that student social entrepreneurs will acquire the tools they need to be effective leaders of tomorrow.

Sparkseed's Ventures
Sparkseed has helped launch over 30 ventures ranging from microfinance organizations in the United States to educational initiatives in Tanzania. One example of a Sparkseed venture leader is Jason Shah, a student at Harvard. Jason developed I Need A Pencil, a website that provides free SAT tutoring to low-income students. He has already helped over 25,000 students raise their SAT scores an average of 200 points. Sparkseed has provided Jason with seed funding, pro-bono legal services, on-going skills training, business plan feedback, and hand-matched mentoring.

In a world where young entrepreneurs are at the forefront of results-oriented social change, Sparkseed has proven to be a powerful connector - bringing together talent and resources to drive innovation.
