The Clean Economy Network (CEN) is running new TV ads in Indiana, North Carolina and Missouri highlighting the urgent need for clean energy legislation that will lessen our dependence on foreign oil and make our nation more secure -- while bringing tens of thousands of new clean energy jobs to the state.

The House passed such a bill in June and the U.S. Senate unveiled its own version today. The ads remind senators from these states that America's dependence on foreign oil hurts our economy, helps countries hostile to our interests, and puts our security at risk - all while sending jobs overseas. Transitioning Indiana and America to a clean energy economy will make our nation more secure while providing thousands of new jobs in these states, according to research by the Center for American Progress.

"Businesses of all sizes and from all sectors - from emerging clean technology companies to traditional electric power utilities -- support moving forward on strong climate and energy legislation this year to create jobs, make America more competitive globally and make our country more energy independent," said CEN Executive Director Jeff Anderson. "Business leaders across Indiana are ready to move forward and help make America the definitive leader in clean energy."

CEN is an organization of clean tech and clean energy business leaders from around the country, representing a wide range of industries from every region. It's part of We Can Lead, a coalition of entrepreneurs, investors, manufacturers and energy providers supporting comprehensive energy and climate policies in the United States. These are just two of many business groups to step forward in favor of comprehensive energy and climate legislation in recent months.

The new television spots, entitled "Waste," highlight the chokehold that dependence on imported oil creates for America's economy and our national security. They highlight how comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation, if done right, can create 1.7 million new jobs while making America more energy independent and bringing our security, economy, and the future of our planet back under our control.
