American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH), at the invitation of the 42nd President of the United States of America, William Jefferson Clinton, joins the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).

In 2005, President Clinton established CGI to turn ideas into action and to help our world move beyond the current state of globalization to a more integrated global community of shared benefits, responsibilities, and values. By gathering leaders from a variety of backgrounds, CGI creates a unique opportunity to channel the capacities of individuals and organizations to realize change. To fulfill the action-oriented mission of CGI, all members devise practical solutions to global issues through the development of specific and measurable Commitments to Action.

AUBiH Commitment to Action is to bring American-style education to the Balkans region. Balkans region has been devastated with long period of Communism, wars and post-war corruption. The mission of the AUBiH is to equip as many future leaders of the region as possible with the best skills, education, and experience based on American model of education in cooperation with State University of New York (SUNY). Such new leaders will be able to get engaged in solving today's problems and contribute to the whole region's peace, stability and prosperity.

The representatives of the AUBiH used the week of CGI meetings in New York to present their ideas and to connect with leaders around the world in order to learn about their projects.

About AUBiH
American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the first career-oriented university in this country and the region, offering specialized study departments, degrees and programs recognized in the United States of America, the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the curriculum is fully adapted to requirements and goals of the Bologna Declaration. The primary goal of the AUBiH is to provide top-quality education adapted to the needs and requirements of the local community and the society. Classes at the AUBiH are delivered in English. Students who enroll in one of the colleges at the AUBiH are expected to be high-academic achievers, and special attention is paid to previous secondary school and university studies with high grades.

The faculty of the AUBiH is the team of eminent professors from American and European universities. A number of students who enrolled at the AUBiH in academic year of 2008/2009 are five times higher than the previous year. This is a clear indicator of a growing interest in the American system of education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. The American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina ensures that its student achieve jointly accredited diplomas. One of them is from the United States of America, issued by the State University of New York, and the other is from Bosnia and Herzegovina, in accordance with Bologna Declaration. This is the reason why our students have a great opportunity to find employment with leading companies in the world. Graduates can work in the fields of banking, insurance, credit union, stock broking companies, financial planning companies, within colleges and universities, technologic corporations, international legal organizations, embassies and other entities. An increased interest by students from Bosnia and Herzegovina and other parts of Europe and world creates the need for the AUBiH to expand in size and in content. We have planned to open new collages, as well as set up new study areas within the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
